Caramel Teddy 🧸

A warm “caramel” set for a baby: a button-up cardigan with textured “bobble” details, pants, a bonnet with ears and booties — all in a unified style. The fabric looks even, the ribbing is neat, the finishing is kept in a calm natural palette, and the buttons add a cozy “vintage” feel. Knitting method and techniques

The set is worked with knitting needles; the main fabric is stockinette stitch, which is visible from the even “V”s of the stitches and the soft drape of the fabric. The cuffs on the sleeves and legs are knitted in rib (most likely 1×1 or 2×2) with a neat transition to stockinette; the hem edges are reinforced with garter stitch/garter border for stability and to prevent curling. The cardigan is finished with a button band: buttonholes are made in the classic way with a yarn-over and closing/picking up stitches in the next row. The textured decoration is created with bobbles/popcorns: several stitches are worked from one stitch and then gathered into one — this gives volume and a childlike texture. The sleeve, judging by the shaping line, uses raglan increases/decreases or may be set-in, but in any case the fit looks neat without coarse steps. The bonnet with ties is shaped at the back using short rows or wedges; the ears are separately knitted semicircular pieces sewn on with an invisible stitch. The booties are worked with a firm edging and shaping of the instep; ties/cords are i-cord or a crocheted tubular cord. Finally, the set is shown with a light blocking/steam treatment to even out the fabric and open the ribs.

• Buttons 4–5 pcs, light (wood/pearl), diameter ~12–15 mm.
• Tapestry/ darning needle for seaming, stitch markers, measuring tape.

Care instructions

Washing: hand wash or machine wash on Wool/Delicate cycle at 30°C in a laundry bag, using a liquid wool/baby detergent. Spin minimally (up to 600 rpm) or no spin. Drying: lay flat on a towel to dry, shaping to measurements; booties and bonnet may be dried on a form to keep silhouette. Do not dry on a radiator or in direct sun. Blocking/Finishing: do not press with steam directly; if refreshing is needed — lightly steam through a damp cloth at a distance. Storage: fold flat so shoulders/bands don’t stretch; fasten buttons to prevent the band from deforming.
